Advantages- military protection on air, ground, and sea; less money is needed to be spent on personal military because other countries back you up.
Disadvantages- higher MDC's and more powerful countries (USA) have more say in matters and control the smaller countries and the smaller countries depend on the MDC's military. Also if one member is attacked,. all members must provide support to the nation that has been attacked, which can be a real hassle and use a lot of troops and money.
Effect on Local Diversity
Being a military based group, NATO really has no effect on local diversity. It actually may promote it and help it grow because in a sense, every country that provides a military is helping protect the other countries liberty and diversity.
